University of Iowa Recognizes John Streif
The University of Iowa held an appreciation luncheon for Men's Basketball Athletic Trainer and Travel Coordinator John Streif, ATC, May 2, 2010.

On Sunday, May 2, 2010, a crowd of approximately 350 friends and colleagues
gathered at the Iowa Memorial Union Ballroom on the campus of the University of Iowa to recognize athletic trainer John Streif. Streif, originally from Manchester, Iowa and a graduate of Delaware High School (now Maquoketa Valley), attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation in 1970. He served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the West Point Military Academy from 1970-72. He returned to Iowa in 1972, where he has served as the Men’s Basketball Athletic Trainer and Travel Coordinator for both the Hawkeye Football and Men’s Basketball.
Featured speakers included current men’s basketball player Matt Gatens, former wrestling coach Dan Gable, former Athletic Director Bump Elliot, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery John Albright, M.D., Director of Athletic Training Education Dan Foster, ATC, and head football coach Kirk Ferentz. Speakers reflected on Streif’s dedication and support of University of Iowa Athletics and student athlete’s.
